The plan comprises three clearly-distinct, elongated buildings that, together, form a cross. These contain housing, workplaces for creative people and retail space, respectively. The buildings divide the strategic site into four unequal quadrants or squares. Linking up with the buildings and their surroundings, each square has a different function: a collective garden for occupants, a commercial square for showrooms and the sale of furniture, a parking square, and an events square by the water. Giving the buildings differing permeability determines the flow from one square to another. A new bridge accesses the garden, and possibly a Floriade (flower and garden exhibition), on the SuikerUnie site.
